Built for the UAE, not translated into it

Most platforms selling to UAE retailers were designed somewhere else and adapted afterwards. You can tell, because the seams show up in the places that matter — the tax line, the address form, the checkout. We started from those seams.

Why we did this

A currency switch is not a localisation

Change a global storefront to dirhams and almost everything still assumes somewhere else. Tax is added at the end instead of shown on the shelf, because that is how it works in the markets the software was built for. The address form wants a postcode, in a country that delivers by area and landmark. Instalments mean a card scheme rather than Tabby or Tamara. Cash on Delivery is an afterthought in a market where it is a real share of orders.

Each of those is small. Together they are the difference between a shop that feels local and one that feels imported — and UAE shoppers notice, because they have used plenty of both.

  • Prices shown VAT-inclusive, because that is what a shop here has to do
  • Tax invoices carrying your TRN and every field the FTA asks for
  • Delivery priced by emirate and area, not by postcode
  • Cards, Tabby, Tamara and Cash on Delivery treated as equals

What we decided early

Four positions we do not intend to move on

These are commercial choices, not features. They cost us money in obvious ways, and we think they are worth it.

No cut of your sales

Taking a percentage means our revenue grows fastest exactly when a merchant is most stretched — the month they finally break through. It also quietly punishes the merchants who succeed with us, which is a strange thing for a partner to do.

You pay a plan price. Sell ten thousand dirhams or ten million; it does not move.

Your app, on your account

“We have a mobile app” usually means your customers browse your shop inside somebody else’s app, or that a third party will build you one for a separate monthly fee.

Your apps are published under your Apple and Google developer accounts, with your icon and your name. The listing, the reviews and the download numbers are yours — including if you leave us.

A person sets it up

Self-serve onboarding is cheaper to run and it is why so many stores are abandoned half-configured. Someone goes through your catalogue, your VAT settings, your delivery areas and your gateway application with you.

It is not generosity. Stores that are set up properly in the first fortnight stay; the others churn, and answering the same question for a year costs more than doing it right once.

We say what we are not

There is a section on our comparison page titled “when you should not pick us”, and it is not decoration. If Saudi Arabia is your main market, Salla and Zid are built for it in a way we are not. If you need a specific niche integration, Shopify’s app store is enormous and nothing here comes close.

You will hear that on a call, not in month three.

Straight answers

The things people are too polite to ask

Where is the team?

FlexiCommerce is built by Ujjwal Technolabs, a software company in Indore, India. We support UAE merchants remotely, Sunday to Thursday, in English and Hindi. We are not going to dress that up as a Dubai office. What it means in practice: WhatsApp and email get you a person quickly, and there is nobody to visit your warehouse.

How big are you?

Small, and deliberately so. You will deal with the same handful of people from the first message onward rather than being handed between a sales team, an onboarding team and a support queue. If you need the reassurance of a large vendor, that is a fair reason to choose one.

Is this new software?

The platform has been running live retail stores for years — the UAE version is the same engine with the local rules built in rather than bolted on: dirhams, 5% VAT, TRN invoicing, emirate-level delivery, Tabby, Tamara and COD.

What happens if we stop trading?

Your data is exportable at any time, not just at the end — catalogue, orders and customers, in formats other platforms read. Your apps sit on your own developer accounts. We would rather you never need any of that, but you should not have to trust us on it.

What we are not: a payment institution, a courier, a tax agent or a company-formation consultant. We will tell you what a gateway will ask for and what the store does about VAT, and then point you at someone licensed for the rest. Be wary of software companies that offer to do all four.

The honest way to judge this is to use it

Fourteen days with your own products in it will tell you more than any page we could write. No card, and a person to set it up with you.
