UAE VAT calculator

UAE consumers see VAT-inclusive prices, so most of the time you are working backwards from the shelf price rather than forwards from a net one.

The VAT inside a VAT-inclusive amount is price × 5 ÷ 105, not price × 5%. On AED 105 the VAT is AED 5.00 — not AED 5.25. It looks like a rounding difference on one order and becomes a real number across a year.

The other direction is the ordinary one: to add VAT to a net amount, multiply by 1.05.

A discount is applied before the tax is calculated, so a discounted order's VAT comes from the discounted price. Software that does it the other way round overstates what you owe on every promotion. Why that matters in a sale week →
